PEOPLE’S INSTITUTE FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCE AND ART

CO-LAB

PASA represents a space in which humanities and social sciences research at the intersection of art and science can collaborate with humanistically informed, civically engaged, projects. The Co-Lab allows students, faculty, researchers, and community partners to bring ongoing work and or research into long table workshops to develop and implement those ideas. In accordance with this initiative, PASA represents a co-lab in its own rights whose components are the Cooper Library and Archives, the research hub of the campus, and Abrons Art Center at Henry Street Settlement, an institution that makes concrete the intersection between the arts, science, and the built environment.

The Cooper Union Library and Archive serves as a vital resource for the Cooper Union community and the public, preserving the institution's rich history and supporting its educational mission. In line with its history and mission as the research center of the Union, the library and archives in Cooper Union’s Foundation Building offer collaborative spaces designed for research and learning across Art, Architecture, and Engineering.

Abrons Arts Center is a home for contemporary interdisciplinary arts in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. A core program of the Henry Street Settlement, Abrons believes that access to the arts is essential for a thriving city. Through performances, exhibitions, education programs, and residencies, Abrons mobilizes communities with the transformative power of art.
